Welcome to the third installment of the Summer in Portugal blog post series. Today we spend some time discovering the Hotel Infante Sagres, a beautiful five star boutique hotel in Porto.

If you haven’t yet read the first two posts of this series, you can find them here and here.

The Hotel Infante Sagres’ name pays homage to the most important personality of the Portuguese Exploration and Discoveries period, the Infante Dom Henrique de Avis (Prince Henry), also known as “The Navigator”.

Prince Henry was responsible for sponsoring most of the travels that uncharted new territories throughout the 15th century.

Truly a thing of beauty and luxurious atmosphere, the Hotel Infante Sagres is profusely decorated with Boca do Lobo contemporary furniture, a perfect complement to its original 1950’s neo-baroque inspiration.

A perfect blend of old and new.

With a restaurant and bar that easily match the quality of the rest of the venue, it is also possible to enjoy fantastic food and drinks – both indoors or outdoors, so you don’t have to feel like you’re wasting the beautiful Portuguese weather.

A good book, great food and drink, and perfect weather. Does it get better than this?

Once inside the Hotel, you might not want to leave ever again. But just in case you do…

Location

The Hotel Infante Sagres is located in the very heart of Porto, within comfortable walking distance of the main downtown attractions.

In a prime location between the art district and the Historic Centre of Porto (UNESCO World Heritage area), a 10 min walk in either direction will guarantee you always find something to see or do.

It is only fitting that a hotel bearing this name is one of the 440 “Small Luxury Hotels of the World”. The SLH are currently present in more than 70 countries.

The Guest List

What do the Dalai Lama, the Kings of Norway, the Queen of The Netherlands, Bob Dylan, Catherine Deneuve, Prince Edward of England and John Malkovich all have in common?

Yes, they all are on the guest list of the Hotel Infante Sagres… and it’s easy to understand why!

It doesn't get much more luxurious than this.

Understated luxury, prime location, and impeccable service are what the Hotel is all about, as can be proven by their TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence 2013. What better place to spend your holidays in Porto?
